Dr. Brandice Allen, a pediatric dentist in Georgia, is formalizing her ongoing commitment as Dental Director for Hope Mission 360, extending free dental care and education to children who need it most.

Her work as Dental Director for Hope Mission 360 grew out of that pattern: showing up, treating patients, and teaching families how to care for their children's teeth long after the visit ends.
She is now putting a formal structure around that commitment. Rather than treating her mission work as occasional, Dr. Allen is naming it as a standing part of her practice and setting concrete goals for what it will look like going forward.
"Volunteering has never been a side project for me," Dr. Allen said. "It's part of how I practice dentistry. Kids don't stop needing care just because they don't have easy access to a dentist."

Lead dental screenings and treatment for children served by Hope Mission 360
Train volunteer teams on basic pediatric oral health so care can reach more children per mission
Provide parents and caregivers with simple, take-home guidance on brushing, diet, and early cavity prevention
Set a yearly schedule for mission participation, rather than fitting it in around her practice calendar
She said the training piece matters as much as the direct care. "One dentist can only see so many kids in a weekend," Dr. Allen said. "If I can teach a volunteer team to spot problems early and pass along good habits, the reach goes further than my own two hands."
Why she frames it as a pledge, not a project
Dr. Allen has talked before about the gap between when parents think dental care should start and when it actually needs to start. Her mission work runs into that same gap, magnified. Families served by Hope Mission 360 often have even less access to routine pediatric dental visits than the families she sees in her regular practice.
"When I'm on a mission trip, I'm not just filling cavities," she said. "I'm trying to close a gap that's been open for a long time. That takes more than a single visit. It takes a plan I keep coming back to."
That is the reasoning behind naming her role and setting it on a schedule. A one-time trip helps the children in front of her that day. A standing commitment, backed by training and a repeat calendar, is meant to help the children who come after them too.
What she hopes families take from it
Dr. Allen said she wants the formal role to make one thing clear to families: dental care for children does not have to depend on where they live or what they can afford in a given year.
"I want kids to get looked at before something small turns into something painful," she said. "That's true whether I'm in my office in Georgia or on a mission trip somewhere else. The goal doesn't change."
She said she also hopes other dentists see the role as something they could take on in their own way. "You don't need a title to start," Dr. Allen said. "But having one has helped me hold myself to it every year."
